Buying a Top 10 crypto index investment

Virtune offers two securities following the same Virtune Crypto Top 10 Index: Virtune Crypto Top 10 Index ETP SEK and Virtune Crypto Top 10 Index ETP EUR. Both are listed on Nasdaq Stockholm and can be held at brokers offering the relevant product.

You buy one security for an index of crypto-assets, rather than keeping each component in a separate wallet. The SEK and EUR versions have different tickers and ISINs, but they follow the same crypto selection.

What does the Top 10 index hold?

The index methodology selects the ten largest crypto-assets by market value, with a limit on any one component's weight. The index is rebalanced monthly. This gives a defined way to follow leading crypto-assets, while the current holdings and weights are shown on the product pages.

A component cap limits the share of one asset; it does not stop several assets falling together. The ETP is an index security, not a fund. How crypto index ETPs work explains selection, weighting and rebalancing.

Why use an ETP for a Top 10 holding?

The ETP puts the index investment into a brokerage account alongside other listed securities. Virtune handles the crypto holdings and index adjustments, so you do not have to trade every component at a rebalance or manage wallets for each asset.

Virtune holds the selected assets with a custodian as collateral for the ETPs. You own the security rather than the underlying crypto-assets. A rebalance changes the holdings inside the product; it does not require you to replace the security in your account.

At a broker, the full product name or ISIN identifies the version. The order page shows the particular listing, trading currency, current prices and charges. Product denomination does not establish currency protection, and the cash currency of your account can still matter for conversion costs.

Costs of the two products

The management fee is deducted from the product's value over time. A broker may also charge commission and currency conversion, and the difference between the buy and sell prices is the spread. These are separate costs, so the management fee alone does not describe the full cost of holding the ETP.

Risks to understand

An index can contain several crypto-assets and still fall sharply. The assets can move in the same direction, so spreading the holding across components does not remove crypto-market risk.

Crypto markets continue trading when the exchange is closed. The next ETP quote can therefore differ from the previous close. The security also has issuer and custody risks: if Virtune cannot meet its obligations, recovery depends on the assets held as collateral and the process for enforcing investors' rights. Custody failures or recovery delays can affect the result. These product risks remain part of an index investment.
