How can an investor buy AI crypto exposure through a broker?

Virtune AI Crypto Index ETP gives exposure to several crypto-assets through one security in a brokerage account. Trading began on 3 November 2026 on Nasdaq Stockholm as VIRAI and on Xetra as VRTI. Virtune manages the underlying holdings so that investors do not need to buy and store each crypto-asset separately.

The index selects crypto-assets associated with infrastructure for AI agents: programs that perform tasks on a user's behalf. A program paying for a data service or computing capacity is one way to picture the theme. The investment follows crypto-asset prices; it does not hold shares in AI companies.

What does the AI crypto index select?

The Virtune AI Crypto Index groups eligible assets into six areas:

  • Identity and authorisation: establishing who is acting and what a program is allowed to do.
  • Programmable money: connecting payments to conditions defined in software.
  • Payment networks: recording and completing payments on a blockchain.
  • Trading and liquidity venues: exchanging one crypto-asset for another.
  • Routing and data: connecting services and supplying information they need.
  • Compute and AI services: providing processing capacity or AI outputs.

MarketVector classifies assets within these areas. Eligibility also depends on custody support and the requirements of Xetra and Nasdaq Nordic. An AI connection alone does not establish eligibility under the selection rules. The infrastructure can serve other users and purposes as well as AI agents.

The 31 August 2026 composition snapshot had 13 crypto-assets, each weighted at 7.69%. Examples were Ether, Solana, Chainlink, Bittensor and Render. It included no Bitcoin. The product page shows current holdings and weights.

How equal weighting and rebalancing work

Each component receives the same weight at rebalancing. Price changes then alter those shares as the components rise or fall by different amounts. If one component rises more than the others, it becomes a larger part of the index until the next rebalance restores equal weights among the selected assets.

The index rebalances quarterly, after the close of the last business day in February, May, August and November. The selection can also change. Virtune sponsors the index, and MarketVector calculates and administers it under the index methodology.

The selection basis is the key difference from a crypto index focused on the largest assets by market value. VIRAI follows a theme, and larger crypto-assets do not automatically receive larger weights.

Why hold the exposure through an ETP?

One security gives access to the index through a brokerage account. There is no need for personal wallets and private keys for the component assets, or for separate trades to keep pace with index changes. Virtune adjusts the underlying holdings within the product while the investor continues to hold the same security.

The ETP is physically backed. Virtune holds the index's crypto-assets with Coinbase Custody Trust Company LLC and BitGo Europe GmbH as collateral for holders. The custodians use cold storage, keeping the private keys offline. Virtune pledges the assets to a collateral agent acting for investors.

The investor owns the exchange-traded product, rather than crypto-assets that can be transferred to a personal wallet or used on the networks. This product has no staking arrangement.

Listings and finding the product

The security can be found by its full name, Virtune AI Crypto Index ETP, at a broker offering crypto ETPs. Its ISIN is SE0030936779 and its WKN is A4AYDB. The venue tickers differ: VIRAI on Nasdaq Stockholm and VRTI on Xetra. Both listings refer to the same security.

The product page shows available brokers and current holdings. Access depends on the broker's offering in the investor's market; an exchange listing does not establish availability at every broker. The buying guide covers the general brokerage process. Account and tax rules depend on the country and account involved.

An AI equity fund or ETF invests in company shares. VIRAI follows crypto-assets associated with the index's theme. It is an ETP issued as a debt security, not an AI equity ETF or a fund.

Costs of trading and holding the ETP

The management fee is calculated daily and collected from the underlying assets, reducing the product's value over time. A broker can also charge commission. Currency conversion may involve a separate charge when the trade's currency differs from the cash used to pay for it.

The spread is the difference between the buy and sell prices. Virtu Financial Ireland Limited is the market maker for both listings and provides quotes. The spread is a trading cost, rather than a fee set by Virtune.

Risks of an AI crypto index investment

Holding several crypto-assets does not prevent them from falling together. Equal weighting also gives smaller crypto-assets the same weight as larger ones at each rebalance. Interest in the theme can fade, and a network's use does not by itself mean a higher price for its crypto-asset. The product has a summary risk indicator of 6 out of 7.

Crypto markets continue trading outside exchange hours. The next ETP quote can therefore differ from the previous close. Exchange quotes can also differ from the calculated value of the underlying holdings.

Physical collateral reduces dependence on Virtune's ability to pay. If Virtune cannot meet its obligations, pledged assets can be realised for holders, but proceeds after costs may be insufficient. A custody failure can cause losses or delay access to assets. These issuer and custody risks remain part of the investment; the collateral explanation covers how holders' rights work.
