How to buy Cardano exposure

Virtune Staked Cardano ETP offers ADA price exposure with staking inside a listed security. It can be held at brokers offering its Stockholm or Helsinki listing. You own the ETP in your investment account, while Virtune manages the ADA backing and the product's staking.

ADA is Cardano's native crypto-asset. ADA holders can delegate stake to a pool that helps validate the network. They can also delegate voting power to a governance representative, called a Cardano DRep. Staking and voting have different purposes; owning the ETP does not give you a personal governance vote. What Cardano is explains the network.

Why buy Cardano through an ETP?

The ETP makes ADA price exposure and managed staking available through a broker, without requiring you to maintain a Cardano wallet or choose a personal stake pool.

Investor rewards are retained in the product's ADA holding. You keep the same security in your account instead of receiving ADA payments to manage yourself. The rewards are variable and their allocation is limited under the product terms, as explained under costs.

Virtune holds ADA with a custodian as collateral for the ETP. The crypto-asset backs the security you own; it is not a personal coin balance in your name.

Buying through a broker

At your broker, the product can be found by its full name or the ISIN shown below. The broker's order page identifies the listing, trading currency, current buy and sell prices and applicable charges. If the broker offers several listings, they still refer to the same security where the ISIN is the same.

Stockholm uses VIRADA, while Nasdaq Helsinki uses VIRADAE. Both listings refer to Virtune Staked Cardano ETP, ISIN SE0021630449.

The ADA ETP product page brings together available brokers, product documents and current details. Account availability and tax treatment depend on your country and account type; the exchange listing alone does not establish either.

Costs of buying and holding the ETP

The management fee is deducted from the product's value over time. It is different from the costs of trading: the broker may charge commission, the buy and sell prices have a spread, and a currency conversion charge can apply when the trade uses a different currency from your cash account. The table below separates these costs.

Costs when buying Virtune Staked Cardano ETP

CostCharged byWhen
Brokerage commissionBrokerOn every purchase and sale
Difference between bid and ask priceMarketOn every trade
Management fee, 1.49% per yearIssuerOngoing, from the product's value
Currency conversionBroker, if applicableIf the product trades in another currency
The broker sets commission and currency conversion charges in its price list. The management fee is stated in the product's KID.

The Cardano staking terms allocate at most 75% of earned rewards to investors, with an annual reward-rate ceiling of 2% before the investor fee. Actual rewards can be below that ceiling. The management fee is another deduction.

Risks to understand

Crypto-asset prices can move sharply, so the value of the ETP can fall. Crypto markets continue trading when stock exchanges are closed; the next ETP quote can therefore differ substantially from the previous close.

The security also carries issuer and custody risks. If Virtune cannot meet its obligations, what investors recover depends on the crypto-assets held as collateral and the process for enforcing their rights. Problems with custody or delays in recovery can affect the outcome. These product risks are separate from the convenience of holding the investment at a broker.

Staking rewards vary, and reward-delivery or staking-provider problems can reduce the benefit allocated to investors. Additional coins in the backing do not prevent losses when the asset's price falls. How staking works explains the underlying mechanism.

The crypto ETP buying guide explains the purchase process and the difference between a security and a crypto-asset holding.
