  • Holding the ETP does not provide transferable LINK or LINK staking rewards.

How can you buy Chainlink through a broker?

Chainlink's crypto-asset is LINK. A broker that offers Virtune Chainlink ETP lets you invest in LINK's price through an exchange-traded security.

Why buy LINK through an ETP?

This route removes the need to set up a personal crypto wallet or manage private keys. It also changes what you own: you have a claim under the security's terms, rather than tokens available for transfer. A collateral agent represents investors in matters relating to the crypto-assets held as collateral.

The product is physically backed by LINK held in custody as collateral. Those LINK holdings provide collateral for the security, rather than relying solely on Virtune's ability to pay. LINK collateral does not remove issuer and custody risks, which can affect recovery, or the possibility of the next ETP quote changing after LINK trades while the exchange is closed.

Where is the ETP listed?

On Xetra, Virtune Chainlink ETP trades under VRTL. The same security, ISIN SE0021149259, uses VIRLINK on Nasdaq Stockholm, VIRLINKE on Nasdaq Helsinki and ETNVIRLINK on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

To find a broker for this LINK security, open the Chainlink product page and see the available broker options.

What does it cost?

Holding LINK through this security carries a management fee, shown in the table. For the steps between selecting its listing and placing an order, see buying through a broker.

LINK tokens and the ETP serve different purposes

Chainlink supplies blockchain applications with information from outside their own networks. For example, a lending app can use an external asset price to apply its lending rules. LINK helps pay node operators for Chainlink services. What Chainlink is explains the oracle network and LINK's role.

Buying LINK on a crypto exchange creates a token holding. The provider may hold it in custody, or the tokens can be withdrawn to a personal wallet whose keys the holder manages. Virtune Chainlink ETP follows LINK's price through a security, so a fall in LINK reduces the holding's value. Its holder cannot transfer the underlying LINK or use it to pay for Chainlink services, and the product does not stake LINK.
